What do you think is the cruelest part of the Hunger Games? What kind of people would devise this spectacle for the entertainment of their populace? Can you see parallels between these Games and the society that condones them, and other related events and cultures in the history of the world?
I think that the most cruelest thing in the hunger games is the fact that there can only be one winner so if you and your friend is the last people alive it means that you must fight to the death.I think the people who come up with it are people who don't care for the lives of other people.I think the people who let it happen are very violent and it is like the gladiators of Rome.
ReplyDeleteFight to the death
DeleteHeck yeaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteYa I also think the cruelest thing is that you will have to end up killing your best friend. But I think that the people that make the games are very smart, a little cruel and they are also maybe testing the ways of killing people. So that makes them a little bit curious too.

DeleteI think that the Hunger Games are cruel. The fact that people are pitting kids against each other is inhumane. I agree with Quinn that you might have to murder your friends, but I think killing ANYONE would push a person out of their mental limits. It would cause them to go insane and scar them for life. Someone sick, twisted and overcome with power would hold the games to show citizens how powerful they are. This is related to war because humans are killing each other for stupid reasons. Humanity is basically killing itself.
ReplyDeleteI think the cruelest thing about the Hunger Games is that it's supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT. People at home are watching this on television and LAUGHING at every death as if it was an act. Even though if there is a winner, the winner will be known as a killing machine in the end. So if Katniss wins, every kill she makes is seen on television and if anyone sees her in real life, they'll say, "See that kid? She killed everyone in t he Hunger Games" and this'll ruin her future which will eliminate her chances of getting a proper job or life and will almost never find love.
ReplyDeleteI think that the cruelest part about the Hunger Games is that their is only one winner like Daniel and Quinn said. Also, if someone that you know is in the games and then they die. That is very sad and probably a big part of your life is gone, for some stupid games. At the back of the book it said something like winning means fortune and wealth, loosing means certain death. That is really ture.
ReplyDeleteThe people that made the games (capitol) are very selfish and can't make an effort to stand in someone esles shoes and try to see and feel what they feel back home. Since they are here now at capitol to play the games. What is going through the moms or dads brain when someone they know is the games. competiting to LIVE.
I can definitely see the parrel between who condones and the games. This sort of like world war 2 becuase how people were kept, but there are still many difference between those to.

DeleteI think the cruelest thing about the hunger games is that they take innocent children and make them practically "entertain" the betters and the terrified adults watch them. I think the type of people that would devise this sort of inhumanity are those who like to see suffering in the world and set this Hunger Games up to see the plan unfurl. Yes, I think i can see what parallel between these Games and the society that condones them because the children don`t have a choice because they really are in the end children and if people don`t take action in the book and even in some parts of our world, it won`t be a very nice place to live anymore on Planet Earth.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Apurva on how the children are really competing to live, while their horrified parents watch them suffer.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of things that I think are cruelest. I agree with Quinn in how you have to kill your best friend. Or your best friend having to kill you. Also, I think its just so AWFUL that KIDS have to be the ones in the arena. Some of those people are younger than us!!! It's just not right to start massacring people at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteReally heartless people would make the Hunger Games. Also really smart people. Some of the technology in the Hunger Games Arena are really complicated. I liked how Apurva said that the Capitol people were too selfish and didn't put themselves in the district people's shoes.
Yes, I can see the parallel between the Games and the people who make it. The games are really really savage. The people who make it are really really savage.
I think the Games is sort of like illegal pit fights. (Example: Bull baiting, dog fights)
I agree with Isabel and Apurva on how the children are really competing to live, while their horrified parents watch them suffer.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ehren about the mental limits about killing anyone.
ReplyDeleteI think the hungers games are cruel because you will have to kill your friends or have your friend kill you. I like how Daniel was talking about how that he said they are playing smart
ReplyDeleteI think that the cruelest thing about the hunger games is that they're always broadcasting it on live TV, whether something good or something bad happened. I think that is is cruel that they will show someone getting killed, just for people's entertainment. They don't get a choice, they just go. I agree on how in the end, you might have to kill your best friend, and what Richard said, some people may be laughing when someone dies, and it's just for entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI think that the cruelest part of the hunger games is that they are forcing people[kids] to fight each other to the death weather they are friends family or enything els.
ReplyDeleteI think the kind of person who would keep the hunger games running is someone who cares only for himself.
the hunger games is kind of like the gladiators from the past in the fact that they have to kill each other for someone elses entertainment.
I agree with richards answer to the first question.
ReplyDeleteI think everything in the book is cruel not just one thing but lots because first of all if you and your best friend and you are left and you must fight to the death, now that is harsh like other people said and also watching and hearing it makes you think"What is that was me getting killed in that scene.Watching it on Tv is also bad because your seeing these events happening with poor innocent chidleren fighting to the death for food or just survial in general.
ReplyDeletei thinl the cruelest part of the games is that only one will be able to survive.you have to kill people to survive.it sucks a lot.and if you win,you live with this major guilt that your the only person who survived the major killing spree, which results in suicide.people who enjoy this stuff and loves to watch people suffer si just sick and messed-up.
ReplyDeleteI agree with richards awsner to the first question
ReplyDeleteand i think the cruelest part of the games is that only one will survive
i think the crulest part is haveing to stab your partner or group members in the back to win. i agree with quinn
ReplyDeleteI also think that the cruelest part of the Hunger Games is that only one person can survive and be the winner, which would mean that if you and another friend are left in the game, you would have to kill your friend, or your friend would have to kill you. I think Jessie made a very good point when she said that the people that make the game are very savage.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Quinn, I also agree that you will have to stab your team mates and betray others to live and win and out of so many people one winner is pretty cruel.
ReplyDeleteThe cruelest part of the hunger Games is that to survive, you have to kill. If you don't kill, you don't survive. Like Ehren said, killing anyone would drive you insane and scar you for life. The people who make the games don't care about other people's lives. They make the games for attention and entertainment reasons. I can see a parallel between the games and the society that condones them because the games are inhumane like Ehren said and so are the people who make them. they don't care about anyone but themselves. Stepping into the hunger games is almost like stepping into heaven, or the other place.
ReplyDeleteI think the cruelest part of The Hunger Games is that people laugh, gamble, party etc at the bad things happening to other people. I agree with Quinn.
ReplyDeletei believe that the cruelest part is that they are forcing kids, not much older than us to fight to the death. If i was in 1 of their shoes I'd be really scared. I think that the game makers are very cruel evil people for organizing an event like this. I believe the game makers should have more empathy for the tributes. Yes, I can see parrelels between the games and their society becasue some of these kids have been trained there whole lives to fight. I think the big idea that the author is trying to get through to us is that war is completly pointless adn it's not needed to solve all of your problems.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with Cameron when he talks about gambling and all that. I think he's trying to say that the games don't just matter to the people inside the arena. There is probably a world of other stuff that goes on(match-fixing, cheating etc)
